Who

Koshell is designed and built by sjdhome (opens in a new tab), a software engineer working on AI tooling — agent clients, extensions for coding agents, and now a terminal that shares its context with an AI. Longer-form writing lives on sjdhome.com (opens in a new tab).

Why

Terminals raise questions all day: a command fails, output makes no sense, a REPL gets stuck. Answering them meant selecting output, pasting it into a chat window, and explaining where it came from — while the answer's entire context was already on the screen. Koshell exists to close that gap: ask in place, get an answer grounded in the terminal you are already looking at, and stay the operator the whole time.

It is built in public. The repository (opens in a new tab) carries the design and fix documents behind every non-obvious decision, and the blog records the ones worth a longer story — including the experiments that didn't work.
